Today I found my “greatness” with NikeSA, I was amongst the 20000 runners/walkers that participated in the 10km Nike We Run Jozi 2012 event. To be quiet honest, I was VERY reluctant to run this race, my reasons were:-
- The 20000 runners (I don’t seem to cope well with crowds)
- The start time and the black compulsory t-shirt (9am start time, running in the Jozi heat, wearing a black t-shirt – I wonder whose brilliant idea that was)
- My fitness level (This was going to be my 1st 10km race in 2012)
The overall experience was fantastic, running through the streets of Alex was awesome, such great people and they really created a wonderful atmosphere.
The Nike SA team did a great job. Will I run the race next year? ABSOLUTELY. I just hope they consider starting the race at an earlier time and consider a different colour t-shirt.
