The Plaza Hotel – ‘a testament to timeless elegance’
I was recently invited on a mini holiday to the US (New York, Florida and Washington DC)
Upon arriving in New York, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that we were staying at the Plaza Hotel. I tried to contain myself as I did not want to seem too excited that we were staying at one of the hotels that my only reference was through watching Hollywood movies. Arriving at reception, we were welcomed by a hostess who took us straight to our rooms and gave us a mini tour.
This hotel just screams ultimate luxury, opulence and elegance. Louis XV-style furniture, chandeliers, 24carrat gold plated fixtures, white mosaic tiles and not forgetting an iPad in every room. Being the gadget lover that I am, I put the iPad in my room to test and sent a message to Concierge for a multi-purpose plug and within a minute I had received a reply and 10 minutes later the plug was delivered to my room. (Now that’s what I call service) Other services available with the iPad are, In-Room Dining, Restaurant reservations, Wake-up call request, check the weather and get detailed information about the hotel…
From a meeting and events perspective, the most iconic and celebrated room is the Grand Ballroom, a perfect setting for a wedding.
Terrace Room boasts some of the most impressive historical detailing, a setting rich with its own history and charm. Striking yet elegant, the Terrace Room is truly a jewel.
There a 7 Meeting Rooms, each equipped with wireless service and state-of-the-art conferencing equipment.
